What it does
Glass that breaks but does not fall.
Security film is a thick, clear polyester layer bonded to the inside of the glass. When something hits the window, the glass still cracks, but the film holds the pieces in place. A burglar gets noise and a wall of cracked glass instead of a way in. In a storm, the window stays in the frame instead of spraying the room.
It is clear, so the glass looks like glass. It can also be combined with a solar control film, so a ground-floor storefront gets protection and heat rejection in one layer.

What changes
What safety and security film does
Storm protection
Houston weather throws things. Film keeps broken glass from flying into the room and holds the pane in the opening.
Slows a break-in
Smash and grab works because glass is quick. Film makes it slow, loud and messy, which is usually enough.
Accident safety
Kids, pets, a chair, a ball. If the glass goes, it stays together instead of turning into shards.
Clear or tinted
Clear film for pure protection, or a combined film that also rejects heat and glare.
Good fit
Where it belongs
- Storefronts and ground-floor glass
- Entry doors and sidelights
- Schools and daycares
- Patio doors facing the yard
- Offices with street-level glass
- Anywhere kids play near big windows

The details
Thicknesses and options
Security film comes in several thicknesses, from a thin safety layer to heavy film for high-risk glass. For the strongest hold, the film edge can be anchored to the frame. We look at the glass, the frame and what you are protecting against, then recommend the film and tell you why.
